Applicant must complete a mandatory written examination and physical agility test, oral examination, background check, credit check, medical and psychological examinations.
• Act 120 Certification is required• Must be a high school graduate• Must possess a valid driver’ license• Must be age 21+ upon hire
A $25.00 non-refundable processing fee will be assessed at time of application is required. Cash or money order only.

Public Works Superintendent
Public Works Superintendent, Borough of Avalon, Allegheny County – Resumes are currently being accepted by the Borough Council for the position of Public Works Superintendent. The public works department has a $565K budget, 3 FT, 2 PT and season employees. The Superintendent reports to the Borough Manager, plans, organizes and directs the operations of the department. Operations include MS4 storm water management, streets and infrastructure, parks, swimming pool, public facilities/grounds and care of associate vehicles and equipment. The Superintendent collaborates closely with the Borough’s contract engineering firm on all projects. Working with the Borough Manager and Public Works Committee of Council, the Superintendent plays a critical role in developing and implementing a long-term strategy for road, sewer, facility and other capital maintenance and replacement programs. Avalon Public Works Department - Part Time Seasonal Employee
Applications are currently being accepted for part time seasonal employees in the Borough of Avalon Department of Public Works. Seasonal employees perform a variety of work associated with the maintenance, repair, and construction of DPW assets. Avalon Police Department - Part Time Police Officer
Applications are being accepted for a part-time position of Police Officer in the Borough of Avalon. Applicants MUST apply in person at the Avalon Police Department, 640 California Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15202.
All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements: U.S. citizen, High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate, 21 years of age, PA Act 120 certified, valid PA Driver's License, good medical condition, and valid CPR/AED first aid certification. Applicants must pass a criminal background check, credit background check, and qualify with a department approved firearm. Prior police experience preferred, but not required.
